At the present time
Caritas in Ujpest also supports communities across the border in
Romania and the Ukraine, which they frequently visit and donate part of the items we
ship to them. The communities are run by a monk who has dedicated his
life to helping the poor and needy of large groups of orphans. (Further details can be found
here, in
English or
here in
Hungarian.) With our support we are able to also help some of those in need in
Romania and we have since received requests through the
RC
Church in Budapest, and appeals for
our help in Poland, the Czech Republic, the Ukraine and the Republic of
Slovenia. |
We are recycling donated PC & laptops for Eastern Europe .
Many letters and emails are requesting our help with this - especially schools.
This month alone, (January 2012), the Korean Church In Hungary has requested laptops, to help with the education program of gypsy children in Hungary & Romania as well as the language school in Deva Transylvania who are struggling to get the necessary equipment.
We make sure that all old data
is removed on PC's & laptops ,and that everything has been cleaned, checked and in good working order before shipment.
Please kindly donate your equipment

Caritas in Hungary has an
old vehicle which is currently being used to transport goods and
people, house clearances and to do errands of all natures. It is quite
often under repair, and badly needs to be replaced, as the running
costs are spiralling. It is also used to transport cycles and
clothing, and students to their summer camp each year.
Our aim is to help them
with a replacement once funds are available, and we are hoping to
start active fundraising especially for this purpose.
|
Our first funding goal:
Our aim is to help Caritas in Hungary purchase a badly needed new vehicle. It will transport goods, and take people to hospital. It will assist with house moves, and will also be used for the school summer holidays. The old one is very often off the road, and is in urgent need of replacement.

Our second funding goal:
The first hospital hospice charity shop opened it's doors in 2008 in Hungary. The work the staff and volunteers do around the country visiting the sick and especially the children in the hospitals is one of the important tasks this young and dynamic charity is doing and unthinkable seeing the necessity and the circumstances in the hospitals. We are trying to support the hospice with donations such as: clothing, toys, children's cycles, stationery and other donations made available to us. We will also be starting an active fundraising campaign so that we can give some financial support to the hospice, which is essential in the near future.

Our third funding goal:
The Korean Methodist Church in Hungary.
Every Tuesday and Thursday, Pastor Shin from the Korean Methodist church in Budapest Hungary prays and sings and preaches at Nyugati subway station, one of the busiest places in the city, where the subway and the train station meet. Here, there are lots of homeless and poor people. At around 6.00a.m., Pastor Shin and his Korean wife have a make shift soup kitchen, where they share out a hot soup or a meal with rolls, and whatever food they have available.
Even tourist and people coming from work can get something to eat and don't need to go hungry all the way, as money is tight and things are expensive.
Seeing this work this Pastor and his partner are doing, they are constantly in need of more funding and food as the number of homeless and poor is quite large, and the little humanitarian help, comfort and support they give is unmissable.
Besides the subway, the couple also travel to Tatabanya some 50 Kilometres away and Kaposvar gypsy centres. Estimated in Tatabanya live some 2500 -3000 Hungarian gypsies and in Kaposvar around 1000 gypsies, most of them homeless and unemployed (we will stress Hungarian gypsies as the have always lived in Hungary) and suffered quite a lot during the Second World War.

Seeing the support and the comfort the Methodist Church is trying to provide to the homeless and poor, Humanos Aid International will allocate food and other means made available by donors to the Methodist Church in Hungary. |

Our fourth funding goal:
The Church garden looks rather un-loved. A few old shrubs , a play area for the children and some grass to be seen.
The local community at the RC Church in Ujpest have now started a new project in planting some fruit trees and shrubs . There is a problem, that the land is not fertile, and very hot summers and cold winters, makes this a very challenging new venture. besides having a shortage of water in the hot summer months.
Rain water collection has to be a must, especially for the summer months.
Humanos aid is shipping with the help of donors, flowers seeds , tulips and other bulbs to be planted, later this year.
Pastor Shin from the Korean Methodist church in Budapest has started to develop the land with the gypsies and other families.
He needs seedlings and fruit trees and has already gained success with potatoes and other veggies.
However, garden tools and seedlings are needed to develop this large project and volunteers will also be needed to expand this project.
Humanos is now actively fundraising to support this project.

Humanos Aid is very grateful that Allium Garden Company based near Pitlochry has donated a large box of seeds for this large project , and are hoping if the weather stays fine in the summer the seedlings will grow in the Church garden, and in some of the balconies in trays or boxes, which would give the elderly a purpose to utilize their balconies more often when they are not able to go outside. |
